Ideas for future pprograms

At our June meeting, attendees were asked to suggest areas they would like to discuss.  Here are the suggestions:

Electronic publishing and distribution
Are agents necessary?
Why do writers need a "platform" i.e. blog, webpage, etc.?
How do you build an audience before you publish a book?
Cutting edge marketing ideas?
Crazy ideas you might read but won't (or can't) write
How to write a query letter--from an EXPERT?
Character description that doesn't take over the rest of the story.
How much description is good, and guidelines for writing effective description.
Strategies for polishing a "finished"  manuscript.  How do professional editors line-edit and proofread.
Who do you write for--yourself or someone else?
Should you write in an existing genre or invent a new one?
How to maintain pace and velocity in a story, but not get bogged down in back story?
How best to insert a back story?
How best  to include maps , illustrations in a novel--or not?
Electronic publishing
Writing discipline.

What do you think?
