Book Launch

New Pittsboro author, Dori Ann Dupré, launches her debut novel, Scout's Honor. She will read a passage from the book, talk about her publishing experience, take questions, and sign books. There will also be a special book-related door prize for the person who chooses the "special egg" from the basket of Easter eggs. Wine, cheese, and crackers will also be served. Dupré writes contemporary fiction and poetry and is a member of the NC Writers Network: www.DoriAnnDupre.com.
Ultra Flash Fiction
This is a fun! Our seventh
annual ULTRA FLASH FICTION CONTEST
Rules: This contest
is open to any NCWN member in Chatham and Lee Counties, or to any member of
Pittsboro Writers’ Morning Out.
Submission guidelines:
Any subject, any style not to
exceed 300 words, including the title.
Only words of one syllable allowed.
(Contractions pronounced as one syllable are OK. Exp: I’m, I’d,
I’ve, can’t, won’t, don’t. Also, possessives pronounced as one
syllable: Joe’s, Ann’s, Kate’s etc)
Yes, it can be done. You
can write a story in 300 words, but you must make every word count. This
requires some craftsmanship. Give it a try!

This will be a blind
judging. Your name should not appear on the story page. Include a

Poetry Workshops
Poetry workshops at CCCC
Thomas Dow, noted Chatham County poet, will be teaching two workshops in Japanese poetry forms.
1. Haiku & Sumi-e: A look at the form and
composition of haiku and with an introduction to sumi-e ( Japanese brush
writing-painting) with a hands on chance to learn techniques as used in writing
haiku in Japanese. Saturday March 12, 11am to 5pm.
2. Haiku &
Tea Ceremony: Again, a look at form and composition of haiku and the
connection to tea ceremony; We will do a brief tea ceremony followed by a
quiet writing time after which participants' work may be shared. Saturday
April 16, 11am to 5pm.
